The latest rage on the directory scene is the bid directories, this is where people submit their websites by placing a monetary bid , the quantity of the bid determines where your site rank on the directory, the higher the bid, the better placement and exposure for your site.
Usually a bid directory script goes for $29, but now there is a free version bid scripts based on phpld 2.1. recently released by Phplinkdirectory, so if you want to start your own bid directory and you have a little or no start up funds this would definitely be a good way to go.
This is another great script by Phplinkdirectory, with this directory script you can start your own local directory for a specific state, town, city, county or country. This was a previously paid script but now its been released to the public and I do feel that we will see more of these types of directories across the board. As with all phplinkdirectory scripts, support, templates, mods etc can be found in the forum.
